There are two types of recreational dance classes at Leap Studios:
Sessional classes are once a week for 8 weeks (September/October, November/December, January/February, March/April and May/June) and are designed for dancers who are looking to try dance but aren't yet ready for a 10 month commitment and/or a recital performance.
Full-season classes are once a week for 10 months (September 6th-June 17th) and are designed for dancers who want to grow their skills, sense of community and have the opportunity to perform on stage. Full-Season classes are our most popular classes!
Tuition rates start as low as $61 per month, depending on the age and level of the dancer and the length of the class.
Every student at Leap pays a membership fee for the session they are registered in. Sessional membership fees are $25+GST. Full-Season memberships are $100+GST. This works out to be roughly $10 per month and goes towards the administrative costs of running our programs, insurance, teacher training and development, curriculum development, legally-required music licensing, and having dedicated resources available to answer parent questions 6 days a week.
The Recital Performer Fee is $125+GST and covers:
If your dancer takes more than one class, every additional class will only be assessed a $70+GST additional performance fee to cover the cost of their second high-quality costume.
Performer Fees this past season were not charged to families until we were certain, with ever changing Covid restrictions, that we were able to go through with the event, as planned. With Covid restrictions lifted and a better capacity to plan ahead, we are already securing our venue for our 2023 recital and we will start the process of ordering costumes as early as the fall, as we anticipate supply chain issues will persist.
The Holiday Showcase Performer fee is $40+GST. Our in-studio Holiday Showcase takes place in December and is an important opportunity for dancers to experience performing for an audience before they take the big stage at our year end recital in June. The fee covers the cost of each dancer’s costume accessories as well as professional lighting and backdrop that we bring in to set up our studio like a real performance space. There are no tickets required to attend the event. Each dancer is permitted to have 2 guests attend to watch.
With the thousands of hours of early childhood teaching experience in our team, we are confident that your child will come to love dance class. Sometimes it can take a few weeks (4 or more) to get comfortable with a new environment, and that’s normal. In our 10-month recreation dance program, if after 8 classes (and at least 4 of those classes done consecutively), you feel like this isn’t quite the right fit for your child, you can put your membership on hold for up to 6 months and stop installment payments.
If you are most interested in short term sessions, we have created 2-month sessions just for that! There is no refund on short term sessions because of their short duration of the program and the limited spots we have available in our low student-to-teacher ratio. However, if you want to move to a different class day or time within the session time frame, we will work with you to find a suitable replacement.
For student's enrolled in a full season (10-month program), withdrawal from class requires 1-month notice (before the 15th of the month) to discontinue further payments after the 1-month notice period. A withdrawal form must be filled out at the studio office.
There are two payment options available for Recreational families at Leap Studios:
Up Front Payment - pay your membership fee, performer fees and class tuition all up front. You don't need to worry about any other payments next year, except the purchase of your recital tickets.
Installment Payments - pay up front for your membership fee, performer fees and the first and last month’s tuition. The remaining balance is divided into 8 equal payments that start in August and end in March and are charged to your credit card on the 15th of each month.
