RECITAL 2025

Your quick-reference checklist for a smooth and joyful recital experience at Edge School on Saturday, June 7

Arrival & Check-In

• Arrive on time for your dancer’s assigned check-in time.
• Follow signs in the lobby to the Dancer Check-In area.
• Take your dancer to the washroom before check-in.
• Dancers arrive in costume or bring a small, easy-to-store bag. Parents keep all dancer belongings with them.

Backstage Flow

• Dancers leave the check-in area with a Leap Supervisor once their full class has arrived.
• Dancers stay backstage until their performance.
• After performing, dancers sit with a Supervisor at the front of the theatre to watch the rest of their Act.
• Before the Act Finale, dancers return backstage for a final bow and recital award presentation (in order of performance).
• Dancers are dismissed to one parent only at the RIGHT-hand side of the stage (audience's right). Do not go backstage.

Costume Changes 

• Dancers who have quick changes should place their costume and any necessary shoes/accessories in backstage area once they have completed their dancer check-in.
• Changing tents will be set up backstage for quick changes (4 or less routines between) and Leap staff will be there to help those who need it for the hairstyle changes. All other changes (5 or more routines between) use the designated change rooms outside the gym (look for signs on doors)

Seating & "Parent Paparazzi" Section

• General Admission Seating (no assigned seats).
• Every seat is a great seat — but Leap offers a special "Parent Paparazzi" section!
  • Sit in the front row temporarily while your dancer is on stage.
  • Please stay seated and keep cameras low to respect the view of others.
  • Remember, you are getting a professionally recording video of all Acts, so please feel free to put your recording devices down and just enjoy the moment live!

Ticket Reminders

• Your ticket lets you watch any or all Acts.
• You're free to leave after your dancer's Act finishes.
• If your dancer performs in a later Act, please note you can only check in your dancer at their designated check-in time.

Costume, Hair & Tights

• Hair: 
  • Mid- or low-bun for girls in Jazz, Acro, Tap and Ballet routines. 
  • Ponytail for girls for Street Dance routines.
  • All styles: hair off of the face. 
  • Short hair? Keep tidy and secure.
• Tights: match classwear (check website if unsure). 
  • Ballet: Ballet Pink (Unless specified otherwise based on the costume)
  • Jazz: Suntan
  • Acro: Footless Suntan
  • Tap: Suntan (Unless specified otherwise based on the costume)

Must be clean, free of holes/snags.

• Don’t stress! Do your best. We’re here to have fun and celebrate our dancers!

IMPORTANT MEDICAL AND EARLY DISMISSAL INFORMATION: 

If you have a need to check out your child from the ACT after they perform and before their FINALE, please email help@leapstudiosdance.com to pre-arrange to ensure our staff have that information and can help you accordingly.

If your child carries an inhaler, please have them carry it in a clear plastic bag marked with their name. If your child carries an EPI pen, please ensure you bring it with you to the event.

ONLY staff are permitted backstage at any time unless our staff announces your name on the microphone to meet us backstage.
